Reported a wider-than-expected third-quarter loss as sales continued to fall, begging the question, when was the last time anyone actually shopped at the department store? We threw this question out to our readers via Twitter and Facebook and unsurprisingly, most respondents haven't stepped foot into a Sears store for the better part of the last decade. Sears was once the go-to destination for appliance, tools and other hard goods, holding a 40% market share in this category in 2000. But its share in this space has dwindled down to about 20% and is still heading south, said Craig Johnson, president at Customer Growth Partners. This trend was reflected in readers' comments. Brett Dixon said on Facebook that he hasn't been to Sears for seven years when he last needed a new washing machine and dryer. CameronMRice said on Twitter that it has been so long since he last went to Sears that he can't even remember. "I think I purchased a wrench," he Tweeted.
