With Andy preparing to leave for college Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), Jessie (Joan Cusack) and the rest of their friends find their group has dwindled over the years. Even Woody's prospective girlfriend Bo Peep (Annie Potts) was sold in a yard sale some time ago. To make matters worse, Andy hasn't played with them in so long that out of desperation they steal his cell phone so that he can conveniently find it in their toy chest.

Just when Woody feels his ideas are exhausted and he's about to call it quits, Andy shows interest in his toys when his mother (Laurie Metcalf) asks him to sort through his things as he prepares to move. Woody is excited to know that Andy will be taking him along, though the rest of the group may end up in the quiet recesses of the attic. But a misunderstanding of Andy's intentions causes the gang to jump ship and when Woody tries to convince them they are wrong, everyone ends up in a donation box in the back of mom's car. Their destination? Sunnyside Daycare Center.
