Ready, Set, Beautify: Clean Up Green Up Program Comes to Prince George's County
A massive cooperative "green" effort is underway to help clean-up litter and debris and plant more foliage in Prince George's County. Residents, municipalities, businesses, schools and homeowner organizations are participating in "Clean Up Green Up", a county-wide beautification program happening during the month of October.
"I am excited for the County's first Clean Up Green Up. This initiative will help beautify the county as well as promote smart, sustainable, and green practices," said Scott Peterson speaking on behalf of County Executive Rushern Baker.
Though individuals can participate, the event is mainly geared toward groups such as home owners associations, schools and civic associations, said Linda Lowe, Department of Environmental Resources Public Information Specialist.
"Clean up Green Up is one way where neighbors and communities can come together and work side by side to help the County become cleaner and greener," said Lowe. "Organizations have indicated whether they wanted to participate in the clean up or planting [component] or both. We provide clean up and equipment such as safety vests, litter grabbers and plants.
